This is Erie's first-ever beautification project that will transform the city's system of fire hydrants into decorative art. We are looking for local artists to commission Erie's 2008 Fire Hydrant Beautification Project. Phase One will transform every fire hydrant lining State Street - from Dobbings Landing to 14th Street - into a piece of art. Artists can start submitting original artwork and design concepts in early May, and the hydrants will be unveiled in conjunction with Celebrate Erie, 2008.
Coming in 2009 and 2010! Phase Two and Phase Three of "Spray on the Bay" - which includes the fire hydrants on Peach and French Streets!
